It has been reported that a senior general in the US Army, who was responsible for strategic planning at the Joint Headquarters of that country's militant armed forces, has been removed from his position amid speculation about the possibility of renewing large-scale US attacks on Iran.

According to the AFP news agency, Lt. Gen. Brett Silvia, director of the Strategy, Plans and Policy Department of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Armed Forces, was removed from his post this week.

The "Atlantic" quoted officials from the US Ministry of Defense as saying that the reason for his dismissal has not yet been announced and his replacement has not been appointed.

The Associated Press also confirmed, citing an official at the US Department of Defense, that Defense Secretary Pete Hegst removed Sylvia from her post.

This development comes as Donald Trump is considering the possibility of new attacks on Iran after the Nov. 3 midterm elections. He said last week, referring to the American military operation and the Israeli prisoners against Iran in February: "Maybe we'll do another little anger of Hamas."
