What are the Arab-led coalitions and what are their positions? Two blocs of Arab parties are present in these elections: "Joint Arab List" which is a coalition of "Hadash" (Democratic Front for Peace and Equality), "Beld" (National Democratic Assembly) and "Ta'al" (Arab Movement for Change), and the smaller bloc "Raem" or "United Arab List" which is an Islamic party. According to the announcement of Israel's Central Election Commission, so far the "Joint Arab List" has 11.9 percent and the "United Arab List" party has 74.4 percent of the votes counted. Although they hold a significant share of the vote, it is not yet clear whether other parties will be willing to work with them in a coalition government. Most of Israel's Arab citizens are descendants of Palestinians who remained in the land that later became Israel during the war at the time of Israel's establishment in 1948, when hundreds of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes or flee.
