Serbian Interior Minister Ivez Dacic said that an attacker who carried a knife was killed after attacking police in front of the Israeli embassy. Serbian police were informed that this morning after a 'terror attack', forces in the country fired at a youth in front of the Israeli embassy. Minister Dacic said the attacker, holding two knives, attacked a police officer shouting 'Allah Akbar'. The officer, who received a superficial wound to his face, shot the attacker. Dacic said the attacker was a Serbian youth who was under surveillance by security services because he was 'known as a supporter of the Islamic State organization'. No further details about the person's identity were provided. In a conversation with journalists in front of the embassy, the Serbian Interior Minister said the investigation is ongoing, but security services announced that the suspect posted on his Instagram page a picture of the flag of what is called the Islamic State (Daesh). Dacic raised the level of terrorist threat in Serbia to 'red status', the highest level of readiness. The meaning of this action is increased security checks and increased police presence in places such as infrastructure facilities and places where large crowds gather.
