Flavio Bolsonaro, the failed candidate of Brazil's presidential election, left the country in defiance of a court order. But as to where he went after leaving Brazil, a new ambiguity arose.

Earlier, sources told the BBC that Mr Bolsonaro had arrived in the US hours after his passports were revoked by the Brazilian government. The US State Department also announced that it would grant visas to him and his family.

But now Argentina says he entered Argentina through the land border from Brazil and then flew to Ecuador with his family.

Argentina's immigration officials said Mr. Bolsonaro and his family crossed the border with valid travel documents and then boarded a private jet.

Brazil's Supreme Court on Tuesday revoked Flavio Bolsonaro's passports to prevent him from leaving the country.
