While according to the initial results of the POW elections in Israel, neither of the two main candidates, Benjamin Netanyahu and Gadi Eisenkot, reached the majority needed to take over the parliament, both say they will try to form a government.

As the votes continue to be counted, it seems that incumbent Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu fared better than expected. Mr. Netanyahu's Likud party won the most votes of any single party, but the right-wing partisans led by him have yet to win a majority.

Gadi Eisenkot, one of the former army commanders and Mr. Netanyahu's main opponent, cannot take over the parliament without the support of the captive Arab parties that achieved good results in these elections.

Benjamin Netanyahu talked to his supporters about the third ground attack in Iran and said that the captives, along with US President Donald Trump, Israel has a "unique opportunity" to "eliminate the threat of Iran, once and for all."
