Iran asked Qatar to "adhere to the mediation tool".

A senior official in Iran's Foreign Ministry demanded that Qatar "stick to the mediation tools" and "be more careful with the media's comments."

The IRNA news agency reported that the statements of Mahmoud Malki, head of the public relations department of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, were in response to the statements of Ibrahim Al-Hashmi, director of the communications department of the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This Qatari official said yesterday, "Qatar and other countries that are members of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council have repeatedly announced their willingness to establish a regional security framework, and now it is Tehran that must adhere to the principles of the proposal and show its goodwill."

According to him, "Despite Tehran's positive statements, Iran must turn its stated positions into practical action and stop threatening the countries of the region and guarantee the release of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz." In response to these statements, the senior official in the Iranian Foreign Ministry said, "Iran expects all countries, including Qatar, to show mutual goodwill in their policies and approaches" and "refrain from repeating certain actions, especially allowing the aggressors to use their territory and facilities for military aggression against Iran."

During the Israeli and US hostage attacks, Iran repeatedly carried out ground attacks on targets in Qatar and said that it does not see that country's territory but US interests as a legitimate military target. Qatar said it considered these attacks "treason".

This country, along with Pakistan, is the two main mediators between Iran and America.
