🔻 Voting has begun in the POW elections in Israel.
With the opening of the polling stations in Israel, voting began in the crucial elections in this country.
The polling stations are open from seven in the morning and the eligible citizens have the opportunity to vote until 22:00 local time.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the captive Israeli Prime Minister, is fighting for his political survival in today's elections. Voters will evaluate his performance and leadership after the October 7 attacks by Hamas three years ago, the war in Gaza and the war with Iran, as well as the increasing isolation of Israel's international prisoners.
The polls show a close competition between the Likud party led by him and its allies from the right, on the one hand, and the rival coalition led by Gadi Eisenkot, the former chief of staff of Israel's captive army and a security figure with supporters on the right and center, on the other.
In his election campaign, Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized his performance during the war and the alliance with Donald Trump, the president of the United States. Mr. Trump supported him and sided with Israel's captives in the war against Iran. Benjamin Netanyahu said yesterday that Donald Trump is ready to act again to "finally eliminate" the threat of Iran, but this will only be achieved if he himself remains in power.
Gadi Eisenkot accused Benjamin Netanyahu of "relying on a campaign of intimidation, lies and threats." He also said he was confident Mr Trump would cooperate fully with "any leader the people choose".
