The French news agency reported, citing two judicial sources in Kuwait, that the criminal court in this country sentenced three men to death on charges of plotting the assassination of the deputy prime minister, cooperation with Iran and membership in Hezbollah.
The three people are from the Shiite Muslim community, which makes up about a third of Kuwait's population.
According to these sources, Hussein Abdullah Matouk, one of the religious figures and the secretary general of "Salmi's National Coalition", is among the three people sentenced to death.
Another of these individuals was previously convicted in 2016 for assassination operations, but was later pardoned by the Emir of Kuwait. This man was said to have been arrested again in April.
According to these sources, these people are accused of harming national interests, collaborating with Iran, planning the assassination of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior, and being members of Hezbollah.
The Kuwaiti government considers Hezbollah an assassination organization. This court also sentenced 11 other people who were related to this case to five years of hard labor.
