Ismail Baqaei, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, in response to the statements of Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, about Iran's ground attack on commercial ships, recalled Donald Trump's previous words that he compared American forces to pirates.

Five days ago, in an interview with India's News18 channel, Marco Rubio accused Iran of risking the lives of sailors who have nothing to do with the war with ground attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

"We haven't seen anything like this since World War II," he said. Rubio also compared the attacks attributed to Iran to the submarine tactics of Nazi Germany in World War II and demanded the condemnation of these actions by the international community.

In response to these words, Ismail Bakkai pointed to Donald Trump's statements on May 1, 2026 about seizing commercial ships and their oil shipments.

Trump said in these words: "We seized the ship, took its cargo and oil. This business is very profitable. We are like pirates; In a way, we are like pirates."
