The BBC has learned that Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, the second son of Britain's king, cut ties with her father last year and told him that she and the authorities knew he was abusing young girls.

Sources close to Meghan Markle say she warned her father, Thomas Markle, that she would never see her grandchildren again.

The letter was said to have been sent to Thomas Markle, 82, while he was in hospital in the Philippines after surgery to amputate his leg.

Child sexual abuse images said to belong to Thomas Markle have reportedly been found at his former home in the Philippines.

In 2019, British police informed Meghan Markle of the allegations against her father. Thomas Markle, who currently lives in the United States, denies all these accusations.

Meghan Markle separated from her father in 2018. That year, her father did not attend his daughter's royal wedding due to health problems.
