🔻 The sound of the explosion in Riyadh at the same time as the announcement of the reopening of the King Khalid International Airport.
In Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, an explosion was reported. This news comes as we reported earlier that Saudi authorities announced that flights would resume at King Khalid International Airport in the capital from today, Sunday.
King Khalid Airport was closed two weeks ago, following successive attacks by the Houthis. The website Flytradar, which tracks flights around the world, announced the departure of a plane in the early hours of the day.
The Saudi authorities have not yet explained the cause of the new explosion in the capital. This while Yahya Saari, the Houthis' military spokesman, warned that this airport is still "unsafe" and a "military target". He said Saudi Arabia is responsible for the consequences of reopening the airport.
Since the breaking of the ceasefire, the Houthis have attacked this airport in several waves. In the ground attack this month, 13 people were killed and more than 300 people were injured. It was the deadliest ground attack in Saudi Arabia in the past decade.
Saudi Arabia, which leads the military coalition against the Houthis, has in recent weeks turned the areas under the control of this group continuously.
