Nearly a thousand people were arrested in widespread interceptions in France.

During the new round of widespread interceptions in France, close to a thousand people were arrested. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets on Saturday, October 24, to protest the increase in the cost of living and the poor condition of schools and public services, and at the end of the mostly peaceful demonstrations, clashes occurred between demonstrators and the police in Paris and several other cities.

The French Interior Ministry put the number of participants in Saturday's pickets at about 410,000, but labor unions say about 800,000 people protested across the country.

In Paris, groups of protesters clashed with police forces after the end of the march from Port Dutley to Port de Vince.

Some of the protesters clashed with the police by creating temporary roadblocks and throwing objects at the police. Security forces also used tear gas, water cannons and batons to disperse the crowd.
