The Iranian embassy demanded an explanation from the Iraqi authorities about the closure of the Hezba crossing.

The Iranian embassy in Baghdad rejected the statements of Abdul Amir Tayban, the adviser to the Prime Minister of Iraq, about the reason for the closure of the Chadaba border crossing.

According to this Iraqi source, it was reported that the reason for closing the Hezba crossing is the fight against "trafficking in drugs and counterfeit currency".

According to statements published in the Iranian media, the country's embassy in Baghdad said that "it expects the relevant institutions to take a position regarding the allegations that harm relations between the two countries."

Last week, the Iraqi authorities temporarily closed the Hezba border with Iran and announced that they were trying to install equipment to deal with the smuggling of prohibited goods.

Besides the Hezba border, reports indicate that the Shlamcha border, another border crossing with Iran, has been closed by Iraq.
