CNN reported that the US is "quietly withdrawing a number of diplomats and their family members from several countries in the region", after increasing fears of the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East.

The CNN network reported on Friday, October 23, citing several knowledgeable sources, that the US State Department, in addition to ordering the departure of non-essential workers and their families from Saudi Arabia, "is reducing and moving the staff of its diplomatic missions in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon."

According to CNN sources, unlike Saudi Arabia, these transfers have not been officially announced in other countries, and that US embassies continue to operate on a "limited operation" status.

These steps come as Houthi attacks in Yemen on Saudi Arabia have increased and the US State Department has warned that these clashes could quickly spread to other regions.
