After the American and Israeli attacks on Iran, one of the old security disputes of the Salami Republic was brought up again with unprecedented frankness: Can the acquisition of nuclear weapons prevent future wars, or on the contrary, will it expose Iran to conflict more than before?

The differences of opinion in the answer to this question have now gone beyond expert circles and can be seen more clearly than before among various political figures and currents of power.

Gholamhossein Karbaschi, a reformist political activist and former mayor of Tehran, expressed doubt about the effectiveness of nuclear weapons to prevent military attacks on the evening of October 14 on the Khabar network's live show "Flashing Iran", arguing that "if nuclear weapons were a deterrent, we would not be able to repeatedly attack in captivity." The host of the program disagreed and said that if such weapons were not a deterrent, Israeli prisoners would not have carried out ground attacks on other countries.
