🔻 Following the oil spill from a ship, the beaches of Amalkain in the United Arab Emirates were closed.
With rising tensions in the region and attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the United Arab Emirates on Friday reported an oil leak from an oil tanker off its coast.
The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment announced in a statement that officials "noticed an oil leak from an oil tanker that affected the beaches of Amalkain in northern Dubai."
The ministry added that "the teams immediately began containment, containment, cleaning and environmental restoration operations... In order to limit the environmental consequences, the beaches of this emirate were closed."
In recent days, many residents of the northern regions of the country, including residents of the northern parts of Dubai, have reported oil smells on social media.
In recent weeks there have been reports of repeated attacks on ships near the Strait of Hormuz. The British Maritime Security Organization reported on October 9 that a ship off the coast of the United Arab Emirates was hit by a missile, leading to a fire. The fire was later brought under control.
