Polls show that Arab parties may be in a position to play a decisive role in the balance of power.
Political disillusionment in the past often reduced the participation of captive Arabs in elections; A group that makes up about a fifth of the country's population, and many of them consider themselves Palestinians, citizens of Israel. Arkan Badran, 23, who distributes leaflets with the students, says: "I see it as our duty to help overthrow this extremist government. They treat us as second-class citizens."
He adds: "I ask all young men and women to vote for Arab lists; lists that represent us, because it concerns our future."
