Rubio praised Qatar's mediation efforts.

The US State Department announced on Thursday that Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, in a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, appreciated the country's ongoing efforts to mediate the conflict in the Middle East.

According to Reuters news agency, the ministry also added in statements that Rubio reiterated the United States' commitment to Qatar's security and the freeing of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Along with Pakistan, Qatar was one of the main mediators in the US-Iran conflict.
