The jury of the Tehran Press Court found Gholamhossein Karbaschi, the editor-in-chief of the seized Hamihan newspaper, "guilty and entitled to a reduced sentence" for publishing material about the intercepts in December of last year.
Akbar Nasrallahi, the spokesman for the Political and Press Courts in Tehran, announced that the members of this panel found Mr. Karabashi guilty of charges of "promoting content that harms the basis of the Islamic Republic", "publishing lies and incorrect content", "encouraging people to commit acts against national security".
The Ishlatlab Hamihan newspaper was banned on January 19 last year. On Tuesday, Mr. Karbashi's court appearance was related to the seizure of this newspaper.
At the time, the Iranian Press Supervisory Council cited two reports of this newspaper with the titles "From January 1357 to January 1404" and "When Harim Darman broke", which dealt with the bloody protest of December and the story of the ground attack on hospitals during the interceptions, as a reason for closing the newspaper.
