The Pazkhians demanded the condemnation of "environmental genocide" caused by regional wars On Friday, at the International Biodiversity Summit in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, Iranian President Masoud Bishikian called on the countries of the world to condemn what he called "environmental genocide" caused by regional wars. At this meeting, which was also attended by Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Medician said that the war in Gaza and other areas in the Middle East caused extensive damage to the environment, the consequences of which go beyond the borders of the countries. According to him, "what happened in our region as a result of wars of aggression is ecological genocide or genocide, and it must be condemned." The President of Iran added that wars are not only aimed at people and infrastructure, but by destroying forests, wetlands and water resources, polluting the soil, destroying habitats and introducing chemicals and heavy metals into nature, they leave damages that will last years after the end of the conflicts. He emphasized that the destruction of the environment in wars is not a secondary result, but directly threatens the safety and well-being of future generations, and dealing with it requires international solutions.
