Elon Musk said that only the U.S. government can restrict access to the military Starlink.

He wrote on his X channel: "Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the U.S. government. Any speed or usage restrictions are determined by the U.S. Army and ultimately by the President of the United States."

Starshield is the military version of Starlink.

Mr. Musk, the owner of SpaceX, which operates the Starlink satellite internet network, added: "Starlink is a commercial service owned and controlled by SpaceX. Use of Starlink is limited to civilian or security activities and cannot be used for military attacks; such work is not suitable for a commercial company.

Mr. Musk gave this explanation after Ukraine announced that its access to this network was shut down.
