The President of Ukraine, in response to the critical words of Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, said that if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, he will hold elections in Ukraine.

"Please tell Putin to give us two months, 60 days of total ceasefire, 60 days, and we'll have elections," Mr. Zelensky said in an interview with ABC.

Yesterday, after Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the US-Russia oil and gas deal, Mr Trump said he thought "it's time for Ukraine to elect a new president who will end the war with Russia".

He accused Mr. Zelensky of deliberately prolonging the war and ignoring the American demand to end the ground attack on Russian refineries.

While criticizing the US decision to suspend sanctions on Russian diesel exports, Mr Zelensky called the decision "a weak move and a gift to Vladimir Putin".
