Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, said he was not aware of "any" ceasefire.

Mr. Zelensky said he did not have "any information about the energy ceasefire with Russia."

The American president said moments ago in a post on social media that the ceasefire was going to start immediately and both sides agreed to it.

So far, Moscow has not responded to this matter.

Mr Trump's social media post came amid his growing row with Mr Zelensky over Mr Trump's decision to buy Russian diesel.

Several previous attempts to get Russia to agree to an energy ceasefire have failed, including in September when Mr Trump prematurely announced a ceasefire that never materialised.

On Saturday, the US President told Mr. Zelensky to stop the ground attack on Russian oil facilities and suggested that Ukraine needs a new president. In response, Mr. Zelensky told an American TV channel that the choice of the president and leader is in the hands of the people of Ukraine.
