US President Donald Trump, in response to Volodymyr Zelensky's criticism of the US-Russia agreement on oil, said that in his opinion, "it's time for Ukraine to have a new president".
The president of Ukraine warned that the new agreement for the entry of millions of tons of Russian diesel into the American market would provide Moscow with the financial resources needed to continue the war against his country, describing it as a gift to Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia.
Mr Trump said in front of the White House on Saturday that Zelensky "wants to be a problem for the world" by continuing to authorize attacks on Russian refineries.
The US president went on to say that "he better stop" and then suggested that Ukraine should find "a new leader who can negotiate."
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the country has been under military rule and elections have been frozen. The global fuel supply, including diesel fuel, was severely limited following the start of the war between the US and Israel against Iran, which led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Normally, about a fifth of the world's oil products pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
