Hans Grundberg, the UN's special envoy for Yemen, condemned the Houthis' ongoing attacks on civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia and called for an end.

In a statement, he mentioned Saturday's ground attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which Saudi authorities said left 12 dead and more than 300 injured.

Grundberg said this ground attack followed a series of attacks on Riyadh and Abha airports last week, which also killed and injured civilians.

The UN envoy called these attacks a "dangerous escalation" and a threat to the security of the region and said that their continuation will prolong the cycle of violence and complicate efforts to achieve peace in Yemen.

He once again asked the Houthis to stop the attacks and emphasized the need to comply with international humanitarian law, including the prohibition of harming civilians and civilian facilities.
