Today, Saturday, October 10 (October 18), the Turkish government announced the ban on the use of social networks for people under the age of 15.
According to reports in the Turkish media, this law will be implemented from November 1 (November 10).
Turkey is the last country to impose such a restriction on teenagers.
This law was approved by the Turkish parliament in April and its news was published in the official government newspaper.
According to this law, social networks are obliged to implement "necessary technical and administrative measures, including age verification" for children and teenagers.
This law also emphasizes that "it is forbidden to provide any service that may cause addiction in children".
Countries including Australia have imposed restrictions on the use of social networks by children and teenagers.
The goal is to protect children from digital dangers such as addiction to screens, lack of sleep, internet abuse and eating disorders. Human rights organizations are protesting the restrictions on freedom of expression in Turkey, which have targeted the media, political opponents and the Djibouti community.
