The US senator called Trump's agreement to buy Russian diesel "disgraceful". Richard Blumenthal, a Democratic senator and one of the drafters of the Russia sanctions law, criticized Donald Trump's agreement with Vladimir Putin to buy Russian diesel fuel and described it as "shameful". He wrote on Channel X that Mr. Trump's decision to lift the Russian diesel embargo makes America a "partner" in Russia's war against Ukraine and asked the president to withdraw from this agreement immediately. Mr. Blumenthal also said the deal runs counter to the goal of legislation passed by Congress with bipartisan support to put more pressure on buyers of Russian oil and gas. He added that this action is a "weak attempt to reduce the consequences of Trump's war in Iran" and according to him will only help the economy of Russia and China.
