The Kremlin: Trump welcomed Russia's role in solving the Iran issue
Reuters reported, citing the Kremlin, that US President Donald Trump welcomed Russia's participation in efforts to resolve the Iran issue in a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, media outlets in Iran reported, citing Yuri Ushkov, the assistant of the Russian president, that Putin told Trump in this conversation that diplomatic options in the Iran case are still open and that reaching an agreement is possible and necessary.
The Kremlin previously said in its official statement that the two presidents discussed the "situation related to Iran" in the conversation on Friday, although the statement did not release further details about the content of that part of the conversation.
This call was made a day after the meeting between Putin and Massoud Pazhkian in Turkmenistan. Putin said at the same meeting that Russia was ready to do "everything in its power" to help end the war in the Middle East.
