Pzhashkian: Regional diplomacy should be a tool for managing the crisis and preventing the escalation of tensions

Massoud Pazhkian, the president of Iran, says that regional diplomacy should not be limited to just holding meetings, but should be "a real tool for managing crises, maintaining peace, preventing the escalation of tensions and promoting practical cooperation."

He said these things on Channel X and on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Nations meeting in Turkmenistan. There was also presented the proposal to create the "Commonwealth + Iran" format to expand the cooperation between Tehran and the members of this group.

In recent weeks, Mr. Pazhkian has repeatedly emphasized the solution of the regional crises through dialogue and said that the security of the region must be provided through the cooperation of the countries of the region. The Iranian president's new statements come in the context of the fact that in recent weeks, Tehran and Washington have exchanged proposals to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and regional officials are also discussing ways to reduce tensions and maintain shipping lanes in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.
