In France, the municipality of Kenisurmar announced the discovery of two paintings by Auguste Renoir, a prominent French impressionist painter, that were stolen from the Renoir Museum in the south of France last month.

These restored paintings are "Portrait of Madame Colonna Romano" (1910) and "Young Girl at the Well" (1886).

The thieves of these two works entered the museum by cutting the fence and breaking the window on September 8, and used chainsaws to cut the frame joints inside the museum.

Six suspects were arrested in connection with this robbery.

The thieves initially took four paintings with them, but left two works behind when they fled the museum's grounds.

Mayor Kennisormer described the recovery of the works as a source of deep joy and relief, saying: "These two paintings are more than works of art. "They are part of our city's history, our cultural heritage and the memory that Auguste Renoir left for Kennisormer." Opened in 1960, this museum houses collections of objects belonging to Renoir, including his easel and his wheelchair, as well as his personal photos and letters.
