France is considering the military defense of Saudi Arabia's Yanbu oil terminal

General Fabian Mendon, chief of the joint staff of France's armed forces, announced Thursday that France and Saudi Arabia are considering several options using French military equipment and forces to help protect the Yanba oil terminal.

"This issue is currently under joint review with Saudi Arabia," Mendon said in a parliamentary debate. We are looking at different options to protect the Yanbu terminal; "The targets that were previously focused on a ground attack are essential for the hydrocarbon trade."

According to the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of France's armed militant forces, that country has already sent about 2,000 military forces to help protect its allies in the Persian Gulf region, including Qatar and Kuwait.

The Yanbu oil terminal on the west coast of Saudi Arabia allows this country to export its oil without crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
