šŸ”» The program speaks with the Chancellor of Germany about coping with Russian threats and cybersecurity

šŸ”» British Prime Minister Andy Burnham will speak today with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about dealing with cyber threats and sabotage activities.

The British Prime Minister's Office announced that deeper cooperation against growing threats from Russia will be one of the main topics of negotiations during Mr. Burnham's first official visit to Germany.

The intelligence agencies of both countries have warned of an increase in these threats; for example, last month Germany accused Russia of flying an explosive-laden drone toward the Leipzig-Halle Airport.

These negotiations will be held in Berlin just days after the British Prime Minister said at the Labour Party conference that he wants to present options for closer relations with the European Union later this year, including the possibility of rejoining the union. A German government spokesperson said that any possible referendum on leaving or staying in the European Union would primarily be a British issue, but Berlin supports stronger ties between Britain and the EU.

The two leaders are scheduled to formally ratify the 2025 "Kensington Treaty" on Thursday; an agreement obligating the two countries to tackle hostile activity through greater cooperation in the fields of military, technology, defense, security, and economic growth.
