The World Health Organization published guidelines to deal with the increase in obesity among children and warned against the use of surgery and drugs.
This organization says that childhood and adolescent obesity treatment should focus on healthy eating, exercise and lifestyle changes, and that surgery and diet pills should only be used for adolescents and as a last resort.
The worldwide adolescent obesity rate has quadrupled since the 1990s.
