"More than 71 billion dollars of funding" are needed for the reconstruction of Gaza in the coming decade
The United Nations and the European Union have estimated that $4.71 billion in funds are needed to help fully recover and rebuild Gaza over the next decade.
A "Rapid Assessment of Damage and Needs" report in Gaza, released in April, indicates that $26.3 billion will be needed in the first 18 months to restore essential services, rebuild critical infrastructure and support economic recovery. This report estimates that since the beginning of the full-scale war in Gaza after the October 7 attacks, the extent of physical damage to the Gaza Strip is $2.35 billion, and economic and social damages of $7.22 billion have been caused.
Last month, US President Donald Trump's "Peace Council" announced a $45.2 billion plan to rebuild Gaza, which includes areas such as housing, diesel-fueled electricity generation and garbage collection. This council has not yet set a date for the start of Gaza reconstruction; An area where Trump's plan to end the war has largely stalled, almost a year after the cease-fire agreement between Israeli prisoners and Hamas.
