Iran and the Taliban government discussed increasing bilateral trade to up to 10 billion dollars
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Taliban government announced that during the visit of an Iranian parliamentary delegation to Kabul, the two sides discussed increasing trade between Afghanistan and Iran to up to 10 billion dollars a year, a target that, if realized, would increase trade between the two countries by nearly three times the current level.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Taliban government announced that this issue was raised in the meeting of Nuroddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce, with an Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Mohsen Zanganeh.
In recent weeks, alongside the intensification of the naval blockade by the US and the imposition of severe restrictions on the flight of Iranian planes, Iranian authorities are seeking to increase exchanges with neighbors and increase import capacity by land and rail. The announcement of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce did not specify a timeline for the realization of this target, but some Iranian media reported that the two sides are pursuing this target within a period of three years.
To achieve this goal, Iran has provided some border facilities and officials in this country recently said that some border operations with Afghanistan will be conducted 24 hours a day. Iran has adopted a similar policy with its eastern neighbor Pakistan.
