After an American sailor was accused of murdering a Japanese and robbing her in Okinawa, Japanese police imposed a month-long curfew and alcohol ban on American soldiers stationed in the city.

Meanwhile, it was said that these soldiers are required to undergo disciplinary training.

Marine Devin Jacob Ballard, 20, is suspected of killing 39-year-old Anna Yagi at a hotel in Banha, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture, and stealing her purse and backpack on Saturday.

Japanese police say Mr Ballard has denied these allegations.

The news of this woman's murder received a wide reaction in Japan, and Japanese citizens gathered in front of the prime minister's office for several consecutive nights and demanded the closure of the American military base.
