Qatar: The negotiations between Iran and the US and the exchange of messages are still ongoing
Qatar, which plays a role in the mediation efforts between Iran and the US, announced on Tuesday that the negotiations between the two countries to end the war in the Middle East are still ongoing; However, seven months after the start of the war, these negotiations apparently reached an impasse.
Ibrahim al-Hashmi, one of Qatar's foreign ministry officials, said at the weekly press conference that indirect negotiations take into account the "concerns of various parties."
He said: "I can confirm that negotiations are ongoing and exchanges of messages between various parties through Qatar and its regional partners are still ongoing."
This Qatari official added that the scale of the war and the heavy cost the world is paying for it require all efforts to end it immediately through a negotiated solution.
According to a statement from Qatar's court, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the emir of that country, also met with Iskandar Momani, Iran's interior minister, on Tuesday in Doha. Despite the April ceasefire, the June memorandum and last month's talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Washington and Tehran are still at odds over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iranian state media, President Masoud Pazhkian on Monday called the negotiations with America "meaningless" and said those talks only led to renewed attacks.
