Iran summoned the French ambassador for "interception for human rights violation".
Iran said it summoned the French ambassador in Tehran to the Foreign Ministry "following the violent attitude of the French government to the interception of the student unions and gross and extensive violations of human rights."
The Fars news agency said that the ambassador was summoned by the head of the general department for human rights in Iran's foreign ministry.
This report says that during the summoning of the French ambassador, Iran "recalled the human rights obligations of the French government according to international treaties, and demanded that the human rights and basic freedoms, especially the right to peaceful assembly of the French people, be preserved."
Relations between Iran and France have been tense in recent years.
