The death of a 28-year-old worker at the Epidemic Research Institute in Siberia after contracting the pneumonic plague has caused concern.
According to these reports, 28-year-old Daria Shipilova was transferred to a hospital in the city of Lakhov in the Irkutsk region on 7 Mehr 1405 (September 29, 2026) and died two days later.
Dozens of people who came into contact with the woman were quarantined and treated, but Russian officials say there is no evidence that her death was related to the pathogens she was exposed to at work.
Russian officials say that the situation is under control and so far no new cases of infectious diseases related to this event have been reported. However, unverified reports were published on social networks about the possibility that this woman will get the lung epidemic.
Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, said that Washington is closely monitoring this issue, but currently sees no cause for concern. The President of the United States Donald Trump also announced that he is ready to help Russia.
