Verbal tension between the representative of Iran and Bahrain at the UN
The representative of Bahrain condemned Iran's attacks on his country during the last war and their impact on civilians, infrastructure and basic services at the meeting of the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. In response, Iran's representative accused Bahrain of providing its territory and airspace to US attacks and warned against a repeat of this.
According to the "Tasnim" news agency, Ali Karimimkam, the second secretary of the Iranian delegation to the UN, said that Bahrain "provided its land, bases and airspace to the United States in order to use them to start an illegal war against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
He said Bahrain "cannot react to its consequences now" and warned that country and other countries in the region not to allow their soil or airspace to be used for a ground attack on Iran.
The third committee of the UN General Assembly deals with human rights, humanitarian and social issues.
