Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, arrived in Islamabad today, 14 Mahar (October 6) for a three-day official visit.
This trip was done at the invitation of Isq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan.
Diplomatic efforts and mediation between Tehran and Washington, the developments in the Middle East, the tensions between Pakistan and India, as well as the situation in Afghanistan, are among the main topics of Mr. Guterres' talks during this trip.
Pakistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Nabeel Muner welcomed Mr. Guterres upon his arrival in Islamabad.
In recent months, Pakistan has tried to act as a mediator between Iran and the US and provide the ground for continued talks between the two sides.
In this process, Islamabad, in cooperation with Qatar, played a role in the formulation of the memorandums between Tehran and Washington and emphasized the continuation of negotiations and resolution of disputes through diplomacy.
