With the resumption of flights between Iran and Iraq, a Caspian Airlines plane landed in Najaf an hour ago.
This plane, flying from Tehran, is the first Caspian plane to land in Najaf after the suspension of flights.
Khorasan Airports Public Relations Director Razavi announced today that Mashhad-Najaf flights have been re-established after 10-day suspensions.
Earlier, the head of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran announced that the flights of the Iran and Iraq airlines between the two countries will be re-established from Sunday, October 12.
Following the American sanctions on Iran, Iraq has in recent days suspended the flights of Iranian airlines to several airports including Najaf, Baghdad, Erbil and Sulaimani. America then issued a temporary exemption from sanctions for a limited resumption of flights between Iran and Najaf.
Baghdad also announced that it had taken measures to screen passengers and prevent the transfer of weapons, sanctions or illegal money.
