According to reports, the Houthis in Yemen have cut off an important supply route between Taiz and Aden.
AFP quoted a police source in Yemen as saying: "We were informed that the Houthis have taken over the Safia area, cut off the main road and taken over the police station."
This news agency also said that three sources in the Yemeni army confirmed the Houthis' control of this area and the supply route, saying that they are besieging the city of Taiz.
According to this report, the Houthis have also stopped traffic on the main road from Taiz to Aden and the conflict continues in this area.
The Houthis have launched a major ground offensive to capture Taiz and plan to advance towards Aden from there.
Aden is the most important port under the control of Yemeni government forces, supported by Saudi Arabia.
The Iranian-allied Houthis control almost every strait in Belmandab and the eastern coast of the Red Sea, except Sanaa, the capital.
If the Houthis reach Aden, Yemen will be divided into two eastern and western parts.
