The Ansar Allah Houthi movement in Yemen appears stronger and more infiltrating after capturing strategic areas near the Bablamandab strait and succeeding in a ground attack on targets deep in Saudi Arabia. These events reflect the significant progress of the Houthis' military capabilities in recent years.
These achievements were achieved in a situation where there is increasing evidence of the expansion of the presence and relations of the Houthis on the other side of the Red Sea. A report published by the New York non-profit research institute "Century Fund" documented the increasing relationship between the Ansar Allah Houthi group and armed militant groups in the Horn of Africa region.
Earlier, a UN report provided evidence of arms and personnel transfers and training between the Houthis and one of those groups, Somalia's al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabaab Islamic Movement.
