Around 3:00 AM on February 24, 2022, thousands of satellite modems went down across Ukraine and Central Europe. A few hours later, the Russian attack on Ukraine began.

Kerry Bingen, Director of the Aerospace Security Project at the American Center for Strategic and International Studies, says: "The first ground attack of the Russia-Ukraine war was not the entry of tanks into Ukraine, but a ground cyber attack on a commercial satellite system that was later attributed to the Russian government."

"Why did they do it? "They wanted to weaken the communication ability of the Ukrainian government and army."

In modern wars, the first bullet can be fired not from a gun or missile, but in the form of a series of destructive codes; Codes targeting satellites orbiting the Earth.
