On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his hope that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open to navigation and that sanctions on Iran would finally be lifted.
According to Reuters, Mr. Putin told a group of Russian experts that the country's offer to receive enriched uranium from Iran, if those materials were removed from that country's soil, was still valid.
In his speech at this gathering, the Russian president also said that Moscow supports the peaceful resolution of all issues.
He also warned that if Moscow recognizes that the Kaliningrad region in the Baltic Sea is the target of a direct ground attack, it will use all the weapons at its disposal.
Mr. Putin stressed that Moscow is "not threatening anyone" and is only responding to statements by Western leaders about Russia's readiness for war in 2029 or 2030. This week, Russia has repeatedly accused NATO of preparing to encircle or cut off Kaliningrad from Russia, the region that lies between Lithuania and Poland and is separated from the Russian mainland.
