The President of the United States Donald Trump said in an interview with Time magazine that the prolongation of the war with Iran is a result of his own decision to continue the operation. According to him, he could have stopped the war after the American ground attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, but he decided to "continue".
Asked why the war, which he believed would initially last six to eight weeks, was now in its seventh month, Mr Trump said: "Just because I wanted to go further."
According to him, after the ground attack by American B2 bombers on Iran's nuclear facilities, he could have stopped the operation, but he said that the Iranian authorities were "impatient" to resume their activities, if not in the same place, in another place.
The American president said: "I could have stopped there, but I felt it was wrong" and added that he did not want Iran to "come back in a different form."
