Barak Ravid, a reporter for Axios, says he learned through a government official and another source that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed the Iranian diplomatic delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Irakichi, that they must leave New York on Monday.

Barak Ravid said the message from Marco Rubio, the US representative to the United Nations, was conveyed to the Iranian delegation, although Abbas Irakichi's return flight from New York on Monday evening left for Doha as planned.

Barak Ravid wrote in his report:

"The Iranian delegation, including Abbas Iraqichi, left for the airport a few hours later and took a flight from New York to Doha on Tuesday at 1:20 am. The second source also confirmed that the US asked the Iranian delegation to leave New York, but the Iraqi one was already scheduled to return to Tehran on Monday evening.

On the eve of leaving New York, Mr. Irakchi told reporters that he had conveyed Iran's offer to the US government through Qatar. 📸 Reuters
