Pilgrimage flights to Najaf for a month have been approved by America

The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the United States Department of the Treasury authorized Iraq Airlines to provide passenger services between Iraq and Iran subject to strict restrictions.

According to this permit, flights must be made from Najaf International Airport and return to that port, and only Iranian citizens traveling on pilgrimage are permitted. The baggage of this flight is limited only to the passengers' personal baggage and essential items for the Yemen flight.

This license does not include large amounts of cash, intelligence shipments, military or law enforcement agencies, as well as persons subject to sanctions, including persons identified with the Iranian government. People affiliated with militant armed groups affiliated with Iran are also banned from these flights.

This license is valid for one month and the US Treasury can revoke or change this license. The Iraqi airline is obliged to submit a report to the US Treasury Department within 10 working days after the license expires, which includes the transferred passengers, their names and passport numbers as well as the company's total costs in Iran for fuel, maintenance and other airport services.

After the intervention of the government and the threats of militias close to Iran, Iraq Airlines resumed flights from Najaf International Airport to Iran yesterday.
