British police announced that a serious security incident occurred around the air force base and several men were arrested on Sunday morning on suspicion of committing crimes related to explosives.

Farford Air Force Base is the permanent location of several US Air Forces.

A large presence of relief forces, including rapid response teams, was observed in this area.

Gloucestershire Police said in a statement:

"After the announcement of an important event, some people are now leaving their homes. This action was taken after a number of men were arrested on suspicion of committing offenses under the Explosives Act.

"The army's explosives disposal team is investigating several vehicles".

Gloucestershire Police said an investigation was ongoing and residents of the Walford area near Farford base were moved to a leisure center and a security zone was put in place.
